General and History settings

Choose the app language and export folder, configure Auto Export, and control local session retention.

Updated November 2, 2026

The General tab sets the interface language, the export folder and Auto Export. The History tab sets how many capture sessions stay on the Mac. Open Settings from the bottom of the sidebar or press Command+,.

Language

Open General and pick an entry in the Language menu.

OptionInterface language
System defaultThe first supported language in the macOS language list
EnglishEnglish
DeutschGerman
ItalianoItalian
日本語Japanese
한국어Korean
简体中文Simplified Chinese

Temposhot stores the choice and switches the app locale right away. A manual choice stays in place the next time the app opens. Each language name is written in that language, so the menu stays readable whichever language is active.

Export path

The Export path is the folder that receives ZIP, image, PDF and MP4 exports. The field shows "No folder selected" until a folder is chosen.

  1. Choose a folder

Select Change and pick a folder in the Finder dialog.

  2. Check the folder

Select the folder button (Reveal in Finder) to open the folder in Finder.

Auto Export

Auto Export (Save as you go) writes each frame to the Export path while the capture runs. It works with Auto Capture and Website Capture.

Choose the Auto Export Format:

  • PNG keeps full quality and transparency. It is the recommended format.
  • JPG gives smaller files. Set JPG quality from 1 through 100; the default is 85.

Action Capture is never auto-exported, because its steps are kept for the Document it creates. Auto Export needs an Export path; without one, Temposhot asks you to choose a folder first.

Export path and Auto Export controls are locked while a capture is active. Change them before starting the next run.

History retention

Open History to see Session retention. The page shows the current saved cap and the number of stored sessions.

  1. Enter a new cap

Type a whole number from 1 to 500 in Max sessions (1-500). The default is 30.

  2. Save it

    Select Save or press Return.

  3. Confirm deletions

If the new cap is lower than the number of stored sessions, Temposhot shows "Delete older sessions?" with the number of sessions it will remove. Select Delete Sessions to continue or Cancel to keep them.
