Document editor with a rectangle annotation on a page

The Document Editor is where pages get titles, descriptions and annotations. It has three areas: the Pages panel on the left, the canvas in the middle and the Inspector on the right.

The Pages panel and the Inspector can be resized or collapsed, and the canvas fills the space between them. Use Show Pages or Collapse Inspector to toggle the side panels, and Back to Documents to return to the library.

The editor saves the title, pages, framing and annotations automatically. The header shows Saving… while a change is written, Saved when everything is stored on the Mac, and Save failed when the last change could not be stored.

RedoShift+Command+Z or Command+Y
Copy selected annotationCommand+C
Paste annotationCommand+V

Undo and Redo also have toolbar buttons. Zoom in, Zoom out and Reset zoom change only the canvas view, not the size of exported pages.

Edit Page details

Select a page to show the Page Inspector. Type a Page title and a Description for the step. Titles created by Action Capture can be rewritten like any other title.

The Image actions menu holds Adjust framing…, Show full image, Reset to action and Copy image. Copy image places the page image on the clipboard.

Edit an annotation

  1. Select the object

Press V and click an annotation on the canvas. The Object Inspector replaces the Page Inspector.

  2. Change its properties

Adjust the controls shown for that object type, as listed below.

  3. Remove it if needed

Select the trash button in the inspector or press Delete.

  • All objects: Opacity (5 to 100 percent), Order with Send backward and Bring forward, and Position and size (X, Y, W, H).
  • Text: the text value, Size and Color.
  • Rectangle, Ellipse, Line and Arrow: Color and Width.
  • Blur: Blur strength from 2 to 80 (default 12).
  • Click Marker: Border, Background and Size.
  • Step Numbers: Label, Radius and Color.

Next: Focus on action, crop, and framing.
