How to split an image

  1. Open the image

Drop one PNG, JPG, WebP or HEIC image, or choose it with the button.

  2. Choose grid or slices

Grid cuts rows and columns. Slices cuts a long image into pieces of a fixed height.

  3. Set the size

Pick 1 to 20 rows and columns, or a slice height from 5 px to the image height. The preview shows each cut.

  4. Download the ZIP

Pick PNG or JPG and download temposhot-export.zip with tile-1, tile-2 and so on.

How the pieces are cut

Grid mode divides the width by the columns and the height by the rows. When a side does not divide evenly, cut lines are rounded to whole pixels, so pieces can differ by 1 px and no pixel is lost.

Slices mode cuts from the top in steps of the slice height. The last slice holds what remains. The 1:1, 4:5, A4 and 9:16 buttons set the slice height from the image width.

Pieces are numbered left to right, then top to bottom, so the files sort in reading order.

Frequently asked questions

How many pieces can I make?

A grid has up to 20 rows and 20 columns, so up to 400 pieces. Slices depend on the image height and the slice height.

Can I split a long screenshot into A4 pages?

Yes. Choose Slices and select A4. The slice height becomes the image width × 297 / 210.

Is the image uploaded?

No. The image is cut in your browser and stays on your device.

PNG or JPG?

PNG keeps every pixel and suits screenshots. JPG makes smaller files and suits photos.

What is the default grid?

2 rows and 2 columns. Common grids such as 1 × 2, 3 × 1 and 3 × 3 are one click away.
