Export PDF dialog with page layout and image quality options

A Document export renders the finished pages with their current order, framing and annotations. It is separate from the capture exports in the results pane and Capture History, which use the original frames.

Export PDF dialog with page layout and image quality options

Select Export PDF in the editor for the main PDF action. Open More export formats for every format:

FormatResult
PDF documentOne paginated PDF with page titles and, optionally, descriptions
PNG pagesOne lossless PNG file per page
JPG pagesOne compressed JPG file per page
WebP pagesOne WebP file per page
ZIP packageOne archive with rendered PNG pages and a document.json file

Image files are named after the page titles. WebP pages appears only when a WebP encoder is available on the Mac. The Documents library also offers Export PDF… in each row menu and a batch Export PDF action.

  2. Set the document content

Under Document content, turn Cover page, Step numbers and Page numbers on or off. Set Descriptions to Before image, After image or Hidden.

  3. Set the screenshots

Under Screenshots, choose Image size and Image quality.

  4. Check the preview

Page through the preview. Confirm that titles, descriptions and framed screenshots fit the chosen paper size.

  5. Export

Select Export PDF. Select Cancel to close the dialog without exporting.

Reset restores the default PDF settings. The footer summarizes the result, for example "3 steps · A4 · Landscape".

After export

The Document stays editable after an export. Changing the page order, framing or annotations does not update files already exported, so export again to get the new version.

To combine the PDF with other files or reorder pages afterwards, the browser tools Merge PDF and PDF Page Organizer work on the exported file.

Next: General and History settings.
