Capture History
Review saved sessions, select Frames, reopen Documents, and manage completed or partial captures.
Updated November 2, 2026
Capture History is the local archive of every Auto Capture, Action Capture and Website Capture session on this Mac. Open it from the bottom of the sidebar to find an earlier run, export its frames or reuse them in a Document.
The list is sorted by date with the newest session first, and recent runs sit under Today and Yesterday. Type part of a name into Search sessions to narrow the list, or select Refresh when a run that just finished is not listed yet.
Read session details
Select a session to open it. The header shows the source label and a status badge, and a details grid sits below it.
| Field | Content |
|---|---|
| Source | The screen, window, custom area or website the run captured |
| Capture type | Auto Capture, Action Capture or Website Capture |
| Started | Date and time the run began |
| Frames | Number of saved frames |
| Total size | Disk space the session uses |
| Failed URLs | Website Capture only; pages that did not capture |
A Website Capture session is labelled with its saved workflow name when it has one. Otherwise the label is the domain of the first URL. Older sessions keep the source label recorded when they were created.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | The capture is still running |
| Completed | The run ended with usable frames |
| Partial | A Website Capture finished with some pages captured and some failed |
| Cancelled | The run was cancelled; frames saved before that point remain |
| Failed | The run produced no usable result |
Select and preview Frames
Tick the checkbox on each frame you want, or use Select All. The control changes to Deselect All once every frame is ticked, and a counter shows how many frames are selected.
Double-click a frame to open a larger preview.
Export the selection
The bar under the frames has four actions: ZIP, Images, GIF and PDF. Each one exports only the selected frames to the Export path set in Settings > General. Select Open export folder to show that folder in Finder.
MP4 and WebP are available from the results pane after a capture. See Export captures for every format and its options.
Create or open a Document
The Document actions always use the whole session, not the frame selection.
Create the Document
Select Create Document to turn the session into an editable Document. The button changes to Open Document once that Document exists.
Add the session to another Document
Open Add to Document… and pick an existing Document. Every frame of the session is copied into it.
The session stays in Capture History after either action. A Document keeps its own copies, so editing the Document does not change the frames stored in the session.
Active-session locks
While any capture is running, the session view shows "Preview, export, and deletion are locked while a capture is active." This lock covers every saved session.
Create Document, Open Document and Add to Document… are disabled only for the session that is still capturing. Finish or stop the run before you change older sessions.
Delete a session
Open the Session menu (the circled ellipsis in the header) and choose Delete session.
Retention limit
Temposhot keeps 30 sessions by default. Change the cap in Settings > History with Max sessions (1-500).
When a lower cap would remove stored sessions, Temposhot asks "Delete older sessions?" first. Confirming deletes the oldest sessions and their files.
Next: Export captures.
