Quick start
Install Temposhot, grant the permissions you need, and complete your first automated screenshot session.
Updated November 2, 2026

This page covers installing Temposhot, granting access, and running a five-frame test session. The default Auto Capture settings are enough for the first run: a stop condition, an interval, and a capture source.

Download and open Temposhot
Download the app
Open the download page and download the ZIP. Temposhot ships one build for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. There is no Intel build.
Move and open it
Unzip the file, move Temposhot to Applications, and open it. The app starts on Auto Capture. Press Command+1 to return to it from any other screen.
Grant macOS permissions
Temposhot checks two macOS permissions before any capture starts.
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Screen Recording | Reading displays and app windows |
| Accessibility | Sending keypresses, focusing windows, and detecting Action Capture clicks |
When one is missing, the Permissions Required dialog opens. Select Open System Settings next to the row, turn on Temposhot, then return and select Refresh Status. The full flow is in macOS permissions.
Configure the first session
Keep the first session small so you can confirm the setup before a long job.
Keep the stop condition
Leave Stop condition on Screenshots with the value 5.
Keep the timing
Leave Interval at 1 second and Key press empty.
Keep the countdown
Leave Countdown at 3 s. The countdown is the time you have to switch to the target before the first frame.
These defaults save five frames, one second apart. Once the test works, set Key press to Right Arrow so the target advances after every frame. The ebook to PDF walkthrough covers reader setup, timing and PDF export for that workflow.
Choose a capture source
The source button at the bottom of the setup screen shows the current source type, for example Select screen or Select window.
| Source | What is captured |
|---|---|
| Screens | One display for the whole session |
| Windows | One app window, brought to the front when capture starts |
| Custom Area | A rectangle you draw or resize on screen |
For Screens or Windows, select a thumbnail, then select Start Capture. For a custom area, select Custom Area, adjust the rectangle, and select Start Auto Capture in the overlay. The picker opens with the last saved area, or a centered 16:9 rectangle when none exists. Details are in Screens, windows, and custom areas.
Run and finish the capture
The countdown starts after you confirm the source. Temposhot then saves frames until the stop condition is met.
A floating toolbar shows progress while another app is in front. Pause capture holds the run, and Finish capture ends it right away. Frames saved before you finish are kept.
Review the result
Frames appear in the screenshot pane as they are saved. At the end, the pane shows Capture complete with the frame count.
- Use Select all or the checkbox on each thumbnail to choose frames.
- The selection applies to the ZIP, Images, PDF and MP4 exports.
- Create Document uses every frame in the session, including unselected ones.
- Open Export Folder shows the saved files in Finder.
Each finished session is also listed in Capture History. See Capture History to reopen it later.
