Pearson+ Offline Reading and Notes Export: What You Can Save
Download Pearson+ eTextbooks in the app for offline study, export Notebook notes as PDF, and understand app-only downloads and access terms.

Pearson+ gives you two things worth saving before an exam or a trip: offline reading of the eTextbook in the mobile app, and your own notes and highlights. They are saved in different ways, and neither one is a PDF of the book.
This post covers both, with the limits to check in your own account. Pearson changes features and menus over time, so treat Pearson's help center as the source for current details.
What Pearson+ lets you take offline
| What | How it is saved | Where it opens |
|---|---|---|
| eTextbook pages | Offline download in the Pearson+ app | Only the Pearson+ app, on your account |
| Highlights and notes | Kept in your Notebook, with an export option for eligible content | The exported file opens in any viewer |
| Book as a PDF | Not offered as a file for most titles | Not applicable |
The key point: offline reading keeps the book inside the app, while a notes export gives you a file of your own work.
Download a Pearson+ eTextbook for offline reading
Install the Pearson+ app
Install it on the phone or tablet you will use, from the official app store, and sign in with the same Pearson account.
Open the title while online
Open your eTextbook and let it load fully.
Start the download
Use the download option for the title in the app. Download only the chapters or book you need if the app offers a choice, to save storage.
Test with Wi-Fi off
Turn on airplane mode, reopen the app and turn pages in a downloaded chapter.
The download stays inside the app. It does not appear in Files, Finder or Downloads. The post on why the offline etextbook is not in your Downloads folder explains why.
Know the offline limits
Offline reading has limits that vary by title, device and account type. Check Pearson's help center and your account for the current rules on:
- Which devices and apps support offline download.
- How long a download stays available before the app needs to reconnect.
- Whether audio, video and practice features work offline.
- What happens to the download when your subscription or access period ends.
Connect at least once before a long period offline so the app can confirm your access and sync notes.
Export Pearson+ notes as PDF
Your highlights and notes collect in the Notebook. Pearson's help pages describe how to export them for eligible titles. The exported file holds your notes with their page references, which makes it useful for revision after the course.
- Export before your access ends, since notes are tied to the title.
- Open the exported file and confirm every chapter's notes are present.
- Keep the file with your course folder and name it with the course and date.
The post on exporting online textbook highlights and notes covers the same task for other platforms.
What "lifetime access" means in Pearson+
Some Pearson offers use the phrase "lifetime access". It refers to access through Pearson's platform under Pearson's terms, not a file you download and own. Read the offer and Pearson's terms of use for the exact definition that applies to your purchase. If keeping the book long term matters, confirm this before you buy.
Why copy and paste may not work
Publishers often limit how much text you can copy from an eTextbook, or turn copying off. If paste produces nothing or a short excerpt, that is a publisher setting, not a fault.
If you need a PDF for another app
- Check whether your title has a print option and how much it allows. The allowance appears in the reader or your account.
- Export your Notebook, which you can annotate in any PDF app.
- Ask your instructor whether a course pack or handout covers the pages.
- For your own notes and diagrams, Temposhot can capture the screen and export a searchable PDF on your Mac.
Temposhot captures only what is visible on screen and cannot capture content that an app blocks from screen capture. Capturing whole chapters of a licensed eTextbook is a use the terms usually exclude.
Troubleshooting
- The download option is missing: the title or device may not support offline reading. Check the help center.
- The app asks you to sign in offline: connect, open the app and let it confirm access.
- Notes are missing from the export: sync while online, then export again.
- The book disappeared: access may have ended. Check your account.
FAQ
Can I read Pearson+ offline on a Mac browser
Offline download is built for the Pearson+ mobile app. Check Pearson's help center for the devices supported in your region.
Is the notes export the same as the book
No. It contains your highlights and notes, not the book pages.
Will my notes stay after my access ends
That depends on Pearson's terms for your account. Export them before the end date to keep a copy.
Working with pages you are allowed to save?
For your own material, Temposhot captures pages locally and exports a searchable PDF. The save screenshots as PDF page shows how.

Turn repeatable screenshots into finished work
Temposhot captures on a timer or on every click and exports the result as a PDF, images, ZIP or MP4.
