A portfolio hosted on Dribbble or Behance lives on someone else's servers. Layouts change, accounts get locked, and old projects become hard to find after a redesign. A local archive of your own project pages keeps the work, its presentation and its descriptions in one place you control. It is also useful for job applications that ask for a PDF portfolio.
What the portfolio PDF preserves
Your original design files are the real backup. The portfolio PDF records something different: how each project was presented.
- the order of images and the spacing between them
- project titles, descriptions and tool credits
- the cover image and the visual rhythm of the page
- appreciation counts and comments at a given date, if you want that record
Keep the source files in their own backup. Treat the PDF as the presentation layer on top.
Capture Dribbble projects
Dribbble shots are mostly one image or a short set of images with a description. They fit well in a URL batch.
Collect the URLs
Open your profile and copy the URL of each shot into a text file, one per line.
Paste them into Website Capture
Press Command+2, select Bulk insert, paste the list, and select Insert URLs.
Set the capture
Choose Desktop 1920×1080 and Full page. Set Format to PNG so image detail stays lossless.
Wait for images
Set the wait to Network idle with a delay of 2 to 3 seconds, since shot images are large.
Run and export
Select Start Capture, then export the session as PDF or Images.
Website Capture loads public pages as a signed-out visitor. Drafts and private shots need your own signed-in browser and the Auto Capture method described below.
Capture Behance projects
Behance projects are long, image-heavy pages, often several screens of full-width images and text modules. Two settings matter.
First, the images rely on lazy loading. Use Network idle with a longer delay, around 5 seconds, and check the row with Render preview before the full run.
Second, very long projects can exceed the size Website Capture allows for one full-page image. In that case the row fails with a message suggesting viewport capture. For those projects, use Auto Capture on your browser window instead: set Stop condition to Screenshots, record Page Down as the Key press, set Interval to 2 seconds, and choose the window under Windows. Key press automation requires Temposhot Pro.
Capture quality for design work
| Choice | Recommendation | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Format | PNG | Lossless, no compression artifacts on gradients or type |
| Device | Desktop, plus Mobile for responsive work | Shows how the project reads on both |
| Area | Full page | Keeps the whole project sequence |
| Wait | Network idle plus delay | Large images finish loading |
| Blocking | Block ads and Block trackers on | Removes unrelated page content |
For pixel density, Auto Capture records windows and areas at twice their size in points, matching a Retina display. The Temposhot extension for Chrome also stitches full pages at Retina resolution and saves one PNG. Check the result with the Screenshot Resolution Checker if a client asks for specific dimensions.
Name the files
Exported frames come out in the session's order. Rename them to something you can sort:
2026-09 Dribbble - Banking app onboarding.png2024-03 Behance - Coffee brand identity.pdf
Use the year and month the project was published, not the capture date. That keeps the archive in the order the work was made.
Organize the portfolio archive
Portfolio/BehanceandPortfolio/Dribbblefor platform capturesPortfolio/Case studiesfor curated PDFs sent to clientsPortfolio/Sourcefor links to original design files
To build a curated PDF, open the frames in Documents, reorder pages by dragging, and add a short text note to each project. Export the document as PDF. The document export guide covers page sizes and image quality. Combine existing PDFs with the Merge PDF.
Other portfolio platforms
The same approach works for any public portfolio page: personal sites on website builders, Adobe Portfolio pages, case studies on your own domain, and app store listings. Paste the URLs into one batch and keep the settings identical so the pages look consistent side by side.
For sites with page transitions or scroll animations, add a longer delay or switch the row to Viewport and capture key screens separately.
Improve portfolio captures
- Preview one row first. Select Render preview on the longest project before running the batch.
- Dismiss cookie banners. Choose Reject banners or Hide only for that row.
- Run Desktop and Mobile separately. One device per batch keeps the sessions easy to compare.
- Compress for email. A PNG-based PDF can be large. The Compress PDF reduces it before you attach it to an application.
- Repeat yearly. Capture again each year to record how your presentation has changed.
FAQ
Does this download my original image files?
No. It captures the pages as screenshots. Keep your original design files in a separate backup.
Can I capture private or draft projects?
Website Capture sees only public pages. Use Auto Capture on your signed-in browser window for drafts.
Why did a long Behance project fail?
Very tall pages can exceed the safe size for one full-page image. Switch that row to Viewport or capture it with Auto Capture.
Save the portfolio pages
Copy the URLs of your five most important projects, paste them into Website Capture with Full page and PNG, and export the session as a PDF. Add the rest once the settings look right.
Need no-code website screenshot automation?
Website Capture turns a list of portfolio URLs into a folder of images or one PDF on your Mac. See website screenshot automation or the capture options guide.
