Make a timelapse from screenshots

Steps
Apply the Timelapse preset or set your own duration and interval
Choose the screen, window or area to record
Start the run and keep working
Select the frames and export an MP4
Pick the frame rate and quality for the video length you want
A screenshot timelapse records long work in a short video. Temposhot captures a frame at a fixed interval, then builds an H.264 MP4 from the frames.

Plan the length
The video length is the frame count divided by the frame rate. The built-in Timelapse preset captures for 1 hour at a 3-second interval, which gives 1,200 frames.
| Frames | Frame rate | Video length |
|---|---|---|
| 1,200 | 30 fps | 40 seconds |
| 1,200 | 24 fps | 50 seconds |
| 1,200 | 60 fps | 20 seconds |
| 480 (2 hours at 15 s) | 24 fps | 20 seconds |
A longer interval gives a faster-moving video. A shorter interval shows more detail.
Capture the session
Apply the preset
In Auto Capture, select Timelapse. It sets Duration to 1 hour, Interval to 3 seconds and Countdown to 5 s. Duration and End time presets need Pro.
Choose the source
Pick a display under Screens, one app under Windows, or a Custom Area. A window or area keeps unrelated apps out of the video.
Work as usual
Start the run and keep working. The floating toolbar shows the frame count and remaining time. Paused time does not count toward the duration.
Export the video
Select the frames in the results pane and choose MP4. Pick 5, 10, 15, 24, 30 or 60 frames per second and High, Medium or Low quality. If a file with the same name exists, Temposhot adds a number instead of replacing it. For a short loop, Export settings… also offers GIF with a frame delay from 0.04 to 1 second.
Other ways to build the video
For images you already have, Images to Video and Images to GIF build a video or GIF in the browser. More detail: Export captures and Capture presets.
