Turn clicks into a step-by-step guide

Action Capture records a task as you do it. Each accepted click saves the screen as it looked just before the click, with the click position and, when available, the name of the control you clicked.

Record the task

1. Open Action Capture

   Press Command+3 and select Start Action Capture.

2. Choose a target

   Pick Active Window for a task that moves between apps, Full Screen for one display, Specific Window for one app window, or Capture Area for a fixed region.

3. Do the task

   Work at a normal pace. The floating toolbar shows the step count. Use Capture now or Shift+Command+2 to save a step without clicking, and Pause capture to make private clicks.

4. Finish

   Select Finish capture. Temposhot saves pending steps and opens the Document in the editor.

Automatic titles and markers

With Parse clicked elements on, each page title uses the template Click "[[element-name]]", for example Click "Save". When the app does not expose a control name, the title falls back to Click here. Show cursor on click captures and Mark clicked area add a pointer and a circle or rectangle at the click point. Both are annotations, so you can move or remove them later. Set these in Configure before the run.

Edit the guide

In the editor, rewrite titles where needed and add a short description to each Page. Use Framing (F) to zoom toward the action with levels from Wide to Tight. Add arrows, text or rectangles for context. Blur, Click Marker and Step Numbers are Pro tools. Drag Pages to reorder them, and delete steps you do not need.

Share the result

Select Export PDF for a paginated guide with optional cover page, step numbers and page numbers (Pro customization). More export formats gives PNG, JPG or WebP pages and a ZIP package. The Document stays editable, so you can re-export after the interface changes.
