Save ebook pages as a PDF

Use the Kindle preset to capture reader pages with a Right Arrow key press after each screenshot, then export a searchable PDF.

Steps

  1. Open the book in the reader app in single-page view

  2. Apply the Kindle preset and set the screenshot count to the page count

  3. Choose the reader window as the source

  4. Start the capture and let Temposhot turn the pages

  5. Export the frames as a searchable PDF

For books you are allowed to keep a copy of, Temposhot can page through a reader app and save each page. The Kindle preset sets up the run: 20 screenshots, 500 milliseconds apart, with Right Arrow sent after each one and a 3-second countdown.

Before you start

Check the book's license and the reader's terms. Many readers offer their own offline reading, print or export features, and those come first. Temposhot captures only what the reader shows on screen. It cannot capture pages that the app protects from screen capture.

Run the capture

  1. Prepare the reader

Open the book on its first page. Switch to single-page view, hide toolbars, and set a zoom that you will not change during the run.

  2. Apply the Kindle preset

In Auto Capture, select the Kindle preset. Change Screenshots to the number of pages you need. Raise Interval to 1 second or more if pages render slowly.

  3. Pick the reader window

Select the source button, open Windows and choose the reader. Temposhot focuses that window before the first frame. Use Custom Area instead to leave out margins.

  4. Test 5 pages

Start a short run first. Check that every page changed once and that no frame shows a page mid-turn.

  5. Capture the book

Start the full run. The floating toolbar shows progress, and Pause capture holds the run if a dialog appears.

Export the PDF

In the results pane, select the frames and choose PDF. The PDF has one page per frame, in order, with searchable text from OCR. Duplicate or blank frames can be cleared before export. See Export captures.

Tune the result

  • Increase the interval when pages show a loading state.
  • Use Page Down instead of Right Arrow for readers that scroll.
  • Save the setup with Save Current Setup to reuse it for the next book.
